It didn't. I was hoping (although certainly didn't expect) that this would stop the biting by giving him a different way of hearing about biting. So, while this is a good book, don't expect that this alone (or probably even this along with a bunch of other things) is going to stop biting altogether. My son (who is just under 2) likes this book. He will even use some of the phrases from it after he bites.
It's great. This is a really great series. Great reinforcement for youngsters. Highly recommend these books for young toddlers. I purchased most of these books in the collection and my son really does learn a lot from them. He is 2.5 years old and he knows these books so well that he can recall the lessons in the books.
And we have not had another problem, yet. She also repeats what I say, and I talk to her when I am reading. Like, see that little girl is crying because she got bit. I bought this book for my daughter a week ago. I think it's a cute book and my daughter seems to understand now that there are alternatives to biting. They have a rule, three bites and you are out. She is 27 months old and biting at daycare.They were about to kick her out. So we were trying to find anything to help.I found this book on a few different websites and decided to try it.My daughter makes me read this book at least three times a night.
Very helpful and highly recommended. We use this book at home and they read it to the class at school. Our family loves this book. It addresses all the wonderful things that teeth can do, other than bite.
We were at our wits end with our 2 year old daughter's incessant and dangerous biting of her 4 year old sister. For the next couple of days we would stop whatever we were doing and repeat the mantra "Teeth are not for Biting" in a very dramatic fashion. Bite, Bite, Bite. I ordered this book and the night it came, we all got in bed together and read it twice, making a big deal of the mantra "Teeth are Not for Biting" while shaking our hands in the air (like no-no).
UPDATE: 12/2009 - Biting issue totally resolved after this book. Know what. Now, she has bitten a couple of times since, but this has made a HUGE difference in our sanity. A miracle. Highly recommend this book to any parent with biting issues. She would bite when she was playing and happy, and bite when bad.
This kid stopped biting. Highly recommend it. We tried the naughty chair, letting the 4 year old bite back, nothing worked. Our biter got such a serious look on her face.
